Flight formation training and the Skyhawks
During 2004 Skysport UK commenced formation flight training to enable the Beagle Pup and Bulldog Club to celebrate its 21st Anniversary following the latter's formation in 1983.
This club and our own has always maintained a close contact and it is not unusual for us to share and plan fly-outs or other events as a joint exercise.
In celebration of this event Skysport UK took the responsibility of training pilots from both clubs for a mass formation flypast of 18 Beagle Pups and Bulldogs.
Many of the photographs on this page record the 21st Flypast, which took place at North Weald Airfield on 29th August 2004.
It was on this day that the Skyhawk Formation Team first took to the air - all 18 aircraft!
How to join
Whilst an 18 ship formation team will not normally be achievable in the future, Skysport UK is continuing its formation flying training capability and will be maintaining The Skyhawks as a permanent team of between 4 and 6 aircraft.
If you would like to become a formation trained "Skyhawk" pilot please contact our Chief Flying Instructor, Roger Hayes.
Only Beagle Pup 150 and Bulldog aircraft will be eligible as team aircraft. You can either join us with your own Pup or Bulldog, or you may train with us and use Skysport UK aircraft.
Our instructors are all ex RAF pilots and upon registration you will be supplied with a current Formation Flying 'Standard Operating Procedures Manual'.
If the use of Skysport aeroplanes is required, you will need to join the club to facilitate this process.
WATCH OUT! THE SKYHAWKS ARE COMING!
